Find A Birth Doula
Find a Birth Doula
The Doula Project works across the spectrum of choice to provide birth doula care at no cost to people who cannot otherwise afford it. If you plan to carry your pregnancy to term and would like free doula support during labor, please fill out this form.
While we would love to serve all of the pregnant people in our community, due to our limited capacity we do ask that you meet these requirements before filling out the application below:
Live in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, or Southern Westchester.
Make less than $30,000 a year, including combined partner income. For those over $30,000, see sliding scale information below.
Commit to having your doula attend the majority of your labor and birth. Most NYC hospitals have a limit of 2 people in the room during labor so if you believe you will exceed this limit with a doula, we may not be the best match for you.
Commit to calling your doula when you go into labor.
If your income exceeds the requirement listed for free doula services, but you'd like to access sliding scale birth doula services while helping to support the Doula Project and its members, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and request our current list. If you work with a doula in our network, a portion of the fee will be donated to The Doula Project to support our no-cost program!
Our values towards our clients match our expectations of treatment for our doulas. As an organization committed to anti-oppression work, we host doulas from a variety of backgrounds in our ranks. So to do we request that our prospective clients understand that their doula may be a different race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religious affiliation from them, and it is against our values to entertain any requests for doula matches barring members of any identity or affiliation.
